Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Duc

Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Duc was born on February 2nd 1949 in Nghe An province. He obtained his BSc degree in La Habana Aquaculture University of Cuba in 1974, MSc degree in Kurukshetra University of India in 1982, and PhD degree at the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU), The New England University (UNE) of Australia in 1997 and Associate Prof. in 2006.

After 35 years working in National Institute of Animal Husbandry with 25 years in position of Head of Animal Genetics and Breeding Department as researcher, lecturer and international – national projects in the field of Animal Genetics and Breeding as well as Biotechnology, Animal Sciences and Animal Husbandry, mainly in pigs, cattle, poultry, and other species. He has author and co-author of more than 246 scientific papers, including 43 scientific papers in International Journals and Proceedings, and Supervisors for 19 PhD, author and co-author of 12 scientific books and dictionaries. Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Duc has retired in February 2009. From 2020, he participate into the Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam. Presently, he is Vive-Head of Scientific and technology and Foriner Department of the Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam, Vice-editor in-chief of Journal of Animal Husbandry Sciences and Technics, and Head of Scientific Committee of the AAAP21^st.

During 52 years working in Animal Scientific fields, Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Duc has got many Prizes as Prize awarded by 12^th AAABG (1997) in Australia, Prize awarded by President of Government of Vietnam for the National Project “Vietnamese Dairy Cattle Breeding” in 2000 and Animal Genetic conservation in 2021, Prize awarded by Minister of Science Technology and Environment for the National Project “Selection, breeding and crossbreeding for improving LMP in Vietnamese pigs” in 2001, thirteen  Prizes awarded by Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 1998-2023, Prize awarded by Premier of the Government of Vietnam in 2004 and 2022, Prize awarded by President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association in 2017,  and 2024, Prizes awarded by Vietnam Agricultural Associations “Scientist for Agriculture” of Vietnam in 2019, and Prizes awarded by Associations of Scientific and Technology “The best Scientist of Vietnam” in 2019, especially in 2007, he got Third Class Labor Order awarded by Government of Vietnam.
