Prof. Metha Wanapat

Prof. Dr. Metha Wanapat, one of the most prominent animal scientists in the Asian-Australasian region, who has earned M.S., Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from North Dakota State University, U.S.A. and Post Doc. from Agricultural University of Norway and a Visiting Professor at MTTK Research Institute, Finland. His teaching and research has been in ruminant nutrition and feeding using local feed resources and agricultural crop-residues. Manipulation of rumen ecology and fermentation process has been research activities. Moreover, development of food-feed system (FFS) and feeding strategies using dietary means as rumen enhancers to enhance rumen fermentation efficiency while mitigate methane emission, have been the main research focus. He has published research papers in International Journals with high impact factor more than 400 papers with H-index = 49. He is the World’s Top 2% in Dairy & Animal Science by Stanford University Ranking for many consecutive years. Furthermore, human resource development and on-farm research work have been his current focal engagement. In addition, he has been honored with numerous scientific outstanding awards including The Outstanding Animal Scientist (2000) of Thailand by the Animal Husbandry Association of Thailand, the 7th Outstanding Animal Science Award by the Asian-Australasian Animal Production (AAAP) Societies (2008), The Sarasin Outstanding Researcher Award (2011) of Khon Kaen University, the Outstanding Professor in Science and Technology of Thailand (2012) by the Council of University Academicians of Thailand etc. Currently, he has been awarded the High-end Foreign Expert and the Friendship Award of Yunnan Province under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Policy of the PR. China. Up until now, he has served as a main Supervisor to both Thai and International Students at M.Sc., Ph.D., Post Doc. Levels for more than 100 graduates.

Professor Wanapat has been serving in many capacities such as a resource person and short-term consultant to many universities and International Organizations eg. IFS, UNDP, FAO, EU, ICARDA, Sida-SAREC, NUFU, ILRI etc.

Professor Dr. Metha Wanapat is now holding the position of “The Senior Research Scholar” of Khon Kaen University, Thailand.
