ILRI TO HOST TWO THEMATIC SYMPOSIA ON SUSTAINABLE LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT AT AAAP 2026

As part of the 21st Asian-Australasian Association of Animal Production (AAAP 2026), the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) will host two thematic symposia on 30 October, focusing on the implementation of the One Health approach in Southeast Asian livestock systems and the advancement of sustainable livestock development in Asia.

Operationalizing One Health in Southeast Asian Livestock Systems

The first symposium, titled “Operationalizing One Health in Southeast Asian Livestock Systems: From Field Models to Regional Scale-Up,” will take place from 14:10 to 15:50 on 30 October 2026 in Room 6 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The symposium will share practical experiences from Vietnam and Laos in addressing zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety, tackling antimicrobial resistance, and managing environmental challenges associated with livestock production.

Through scientific presentations and group discussions, participants will explore ways to strengthen collaboration, institutionalize the One Health approach, and scale up successful models across Southeast Asia.

Advancing Sustainable Livestock Development in Asia

The second symposium, titled “Regional Perspectives on Sustainable Livestock Development in Asia: Innovations, Transformations, and Challenges,” will run from 16:00 to 18:00 on the same day in Room 6 at the National Convention Center.

The programme will focus on innovations in livestock genetics, precision nutrition, emissions reduction, antimicrobial resistance, and solutions to promote sustainable livestock production.

Experts will share insights and experiences to identify opportunities to accelerate the transformation of the livestock sector and build more sustainable and resilient production systems capable of addressing future challenges.

Together, the two symposia will provide a platform for scientists, experts, and industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences, and advance innovation and sustainable livestock development across Asia.
