On the morning of May 3, 2024, the Vietnam Livestock Association chaired a meeting on “Developing the Proposal for the 21st Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress,” which will be hosted in Vietnam in 2026.

Delegates attending the meeting
Attending the meeting were Dr. Nguyễn Xuân Dương – President of the Vietnam Livestock Association, along with representatives of the Association’s staff, professional associations, universities, and several leading enterprises in the livestock sector such as C.P. Vietnam, TH True Milk, Mavin, and Greenvet. Building on the success of the 13th Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress hosted in Vietnam in 2008, the Vietnam Livestock Association hopes that its next hosting in 2026 will also make a strong impact. The event is expected to further strengthen connections among scientists, livestock enterprises, and industry stakeholders from AAAP member countries and beyond, while also promoting the image of Vietnam and its people.
At the meeting, Dr. Nguyễn Xuân Dương emphasized:
“The Association considers this a major event that concerns the entire livestock sector, particularly researchers and enterprises contributing to the development of Vietnam’s livestock industry in the context of global integration. Therefore, in today’s meeting, I hope that scientists, experts, university leaders, and business representatives will actively share their views to reach conclusions on key matters such as the timing, venue, and main theme of the 2026 Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress.”
Based on discussions and contributions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sử Thanh Long, Senior Lecturer at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture, who has extensive experience in livestock and veterinary activities, presented a detailed proposal on the intended direction for organizing the congress. He emphasized that the 21st Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress should be organized on a larger and more diverse scale. As Vietnam is currently focusing on developing two key sectors—tourism and agriculture—it is essential to link the congress with tourism. To achieve this, mobilizing the participation of relevant ministries and agencies will play a crucial role.
Following extensive exchanges and consultations during the meeting, the Vietnam Livestock Association reached consensus on holding the 21st Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress in the autumn (September or October) of 2026, in Hanoi.
The congress will select one of the following three proposed themes:
“Sustainable livestock development towards organic, circular, and environmentally friendly practices”
“Livestock development in the direction of circularity, organic production, and environmental friendliness”
“Sustainable livestock development towards circularity, organic production, environmental friendliness, and animal welfare”
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Nguyễn Xuân Dương, President of the Vietnam Livestock Association, stressed that the Association will promptly begin preparations for the congress, including the immediate establishment of the Organizing Committee and Advisory Board, and the finalization of the congress theme to build the content foundation for the official information portal. The Association will also draft and circulate invitation letters to enterprises, partners, and participants. At the same time, a detailed proposal will be completed and sent to experts, scholars, and scientists for further review and feedback before reaching the final decision.
In the coming period, the Association will organize a series of planning sessions to develop a comprehensive and detailed roadmap, contributing to the successful hosting of the 21st Asian-Australasian Animal Production Congress in 2026.
